BLEULER PSYCHOTHERAPY CENTER (BPC) is a non-profit NYS licensed outpatient mental health facility in Queens, NY. We provide low-cost high-quality psychotherapy services to children, adults and families. Bleuler Psychotherapy Center is seeking Social Workers for our F/T Clinician position who are culturally competent and trained to the complex issues and trauma associated with many specialty populations in their treatment including Veterans, Justice-Involved Clients, LGBTQ, and Youth/Adolescents. The Clinician is responsible for conducting assessments, evaluating clients’ mental condition and formulating treatment plans. They will keep detailed notes and records of patients and monitors their progress. The Clinician must possess the ability to make a diagnosis of mental illness and advise their patients on the best treatment plans.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts and participates in the intake process to obtain information relevant to formulating a psychosocial evaluation and initial treatment plan goals. Utilizes the Columbia Suicide Severity Screening (CSSRS) and Risk Assessment Tools to screen for high risk factors (i.e. – suicidality and homicidality) during intake.
- Provides individual, crisis, group, couples and family psychotherapy to a caseload of patients ages 4 thru end of life. Caseload is comprised of multicultural patients with varying DSM V diagnoses, and presenting with high risk or low risk symptoms and behaviors.
- Conducts intake evaluations and patient sessions as assigned to include ad hoc assignments.
- Makes referrals to agencies and community resources as appropriate for the patients.
- Implements the treatment plan by providing psychotherapy interventions and/or concrete services such as complex care management, crisis intervention services, and referrals to outside agencies/providers.
- Utilizes data from PSYKES Medicaid database and/or evidence based tools such as the PHQ9, GAD7, CSSRS, etc. to drive clinical interventions.
- Leads psychotherapy groups of up to 12 patients/members.
- Follows policy and procedure for “Management of High Risk Patients” on patient caseload. This includes using the Columbia Suicide Severity Screening (CSSRS) and Risk Assessment Tools to continue to assess patient’s risk of harm to self and others.
- Confers and consults with members of the treatment team including the psychiatrist, clinical supervisor, and other professional and technical personnel in implementing a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
- Plans for patient’s discharge from the clinic and/or aftercare.
- Maintains appropriate case records on the EHR and prepares other letters and reports as required.
- Participates in clinic initiatives to use evidence based practices to assess and treat disorders and symptoms such as Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and Suicidal Ideations.
- Participates in the collection of data for statistical reports as needed (i.e. – Patient Characteristics Survey, Notification of Hospitalization, ER Visits and 911 Calls).
- Reports to the “State Central Registry of Child Abuse & Neglect” all cases of suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Reports to the “Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs” all reportable Incidents. Submits Incident Reports to the Clinical Director for all internal and external incidents.
- Maintains consistent communication with the treatment team, supervisor, leadership team and other staff via use of technology (Bleuler email, EHR messages and alerts, Voicemails).
Qualifications:
- NYS Licensed Social Worker (LCSW)
- Knowledge working with mental illness in children, adolescents, and the adult population.
- Electronic Health Record experience
- Comfort in using Microsoft Word, Email, Internet, and typing of documents.
- Bilingual in Spanish; Bengali preferred.
Skills:
- Knowledge of the Office of Mental Health Part 599 regulations, and directives for licensed Article 31 clinics.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Bleuler Psychotherapy Center guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Ability to provide case management and/or crisis services and psychotherapy to clients in need of mental health services.
- Responsible, organized, and efficient. Able to work independently to meet deadlines and complete tasks.
- Ability to perform in a team approach and accomplish multiple assignments.
- Skill to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and to listen actively.
- Community minded, patient, creative, flexible, compassionate, and culturally sensitive to persons who are diagnosed with a mental illness.
- Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with other Bleuler Psychotherapy Center employees, Federal, State, and City officials, professional and technical groups, patients, and the general public.
Schedules:
Our full-time Clinicians schedules consist of 37.5 hours/week
We currently require at least 3 evenings and/or Saturday shifts. Our evening shifts include 12pm-8pm or 1pm-9pm. This position will require hybrid availability with 40% onsite and 60% remote.
