Medication-Assisted Substance Use Treatment

A Holistic Path to Recovery

Understanding the complex nature of substance use disorders, Bleuler embraces Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as a key component of our comprehensive treatment approach. MAT uses FDA-approved medications, in combination with counseling, to provide a whole-person approach to the treatment of substance use disorders and prevention of opioid overdose.

FDA-Approved Medications for Comprehensive Care

Buprenorphine: This medication offers a beacon of hope for those looking to reduce or quit their use of heroin or other opiates. As part of MAT, buprenorphine supports recovery by managing withdrawal symptoms and cravings, providing a steadier path toward recovery.

Naltrexone: Used to treat both opioid and alcohol use disorders, naltrexone is a pivotal part of our MAT program. It works by blocking the euphoric effects of alcohol and opioids, reducing cravings and supporting abstinence.

Suboxone (Buprenorphine and Naloxone combination): Suboxone brings together buprenorphine, an opioid medication, and naloxone, which blocks the effects of opioids. This combination is effective in treating opioid addiction by reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms without the euphoric effects of opioids.

Vivitrol Injection: A non-addictive, once-monthly injectable, Vivitrol is used to prevent relapse in alcohol and opioid use disorders. For maximum effectiveness, it is used alongside counseling and other recovery programs, offering a sustained support system in the journey to recovery.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy: Recognizing the challenge of smoking cessation, we offer Nicotine Replacement Therapy to assist in reducing cravings and easing the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. This therapy utilizes low doses of nicotine through products free from the toxins found in smoke, paving the way for a smoke-free life.

The Holistic Approach of MAT

At Bleuler Substance Use Services, we believe in treating the whole person, not just the addiction. MAT is integrated with counseling and support services to offer a holistic approach that addresses the psychological, physical, and social aspects of substance use disorders. This comprehensive care model ensures that individuals have the tools and support they need for a successful journey to recovery.
